We are one of India’s leading developers and producers of seeds in the fields of grain, oilseeds, vegetables, and cotton.
Cotton
Cotton, a vital cash crop in India, plays a dominant role in the country’s economy. It supports the livelihood of 6 million farmers and employs 40-50 million individuals in cotton trade and processing. Grown in tropical and sub-tropical conditions, cotton thrives in warm days and cool nights with temperature variations during fruiting. It adapts to a range of soils and is somewhat tolerant to salinity. Through conventional breeding and biotechnology, BG-I and BG-II hybrids were developed to replace conventional hybrids and reduce Bollworm attacks.
Maize
Maize, also known as the queen of cereals, is a versatile emerging crop with wide adaptability. It is cultivated in 165 countries, covering nearly 190 million hectares of land, and contributes to 39% of global grain production. In India, maize is an important Kharif crop, accounting for 10% of total food grain production. Besides being a staple food and animal feed, maize is used as a raw material in various industries such as starch, oil, protein, alcoholic beverages, sweeteners, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, film, textiles, gum, packaging, and paper.
Paddy
Maize, also known as queen of cereals, is a highly adaptable crop cultivated in 165 countries across 190 million hectares. In India, it is the third most important cereal after rice and wheat, contributing to 10% of total food grain production. Maize is not only a staple food and quality animal feed, but also a versatile raw material used in various industrial products like starch, oil, protein, beverages, sweeteners, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, films, textiles, gum, packaging, and paper.
Jowar
Sorghum (Sorghum vulgare Pers.), also known as jowar, is a vital food and fodder crop for dryland agriculture. It has a significant presence in India and Africa, and is concentrated in peninsular and central India. Sorghum grains are commonly used in various forms such as roti or bhakri, and can be cooked like rice. They can also be malted, popped, and used in local preparations. Sorghum serves as important roughage for feeding cattle, but its industrial uses are currently limited. Sri Rama Agri Genetcs is dedicated to promoting the cultivation and utilization of sorghum.
